The first step of the PrestaShop Installer instructs you to set permissions on your files and configure PHP 5 on your server. You should do that if you haven’t already. Choose the language of the installer and leave the “Installation” option selected to perform a clean install.
Note also that there are links to the PrestaShop Forums and Blog in the top-right corner of the installer in case you encounter any problems and need help.
Before continuing the installation, you must agree to the Open Software License (OSL) v3.0, which gives you full access to the source code of PrestaShop and the right to customise the code to your needs, as long as you don’t sell PrestaShop or any customised version of it. PrestaShop's native modules and theme are licensed under the Academic Free License (AFL) v3.0, which means you can create modules and themes based on the native ones in PrestaShop without needing to publicly release the source code for free. Note that third-party modules are licensed under the OSL v3.0 license, so you cannot customise third-party modules or themes and sell them. After ticking the “I agree” tickbox, the “Next” button will become enabled. Click it to proceed to the next step.
